Do you embrace change?
Things move quickly at Dustin. We are constantly developing, and that is how we always keep each other moving. If you like being part of a dynamic workplace where two days rarely look alike, Dustin could be a good match.
The process
When we recruit, it is important that we find the right match – for you and for us. We anonymize all applications to make sure they are reviewed in an unbiased way, so we make sure it is the person most qualified who gets the job.
Browse our job openings and send in your application for the job that fits you.
When we have received the applications, we do a screening and a first selection. If you are one of the selected candidates, we conduct a phone check-up as the first point of contact. During this talk we will ask you questions to find out more about your current our previous experiences, who you are and what is important for you in a future job. We want to make sure that we are the right match, so we can keep each other moving for a longer time.
The first interview is with the hiring manager, where we focus on your skills and competences and how you act in different situations in practice. We will ask you to give us concrete examples and retell the situations where you have used your competences. You can get some tips and tricks for the interview below.
When applicable, you can be invited to do a test, case interview or technical interview.
Tests:
Tests are a complement to your resume and a chance for you to show your skills and potential. The advantage of tests is that they only look at the mentioned skills for the position and not at your background. It gives all applicants an equal opportunity and helps us make a more fair and unbiased assessment of you. You will get feedback on your test results, which gives you the opportunity to get to know yourself a little better.
There are tests that can assess both soft skills and hard skills, but the type of test will depend on the role.
Case interview:
For some positions we want you to do a case. Case interviews are used to test problem-solving and analytical skills within a realistic business context. The case is often created from a business situation that you could face in the job.
Technical interview:
In our technical positions we usually add this step in the recruitment process. Depending on the position this can involve a prepared case that we want you to solve or for example a live coding session.
In this stage we are not necessarily looking for the “right” solution but more for a problem-solving approach with an open mindset.
This is a second interview where you meet your manager's manager. Here we would like to learn more about you as a person and as a professional to find out if we are a good match.
When it is possible, we want you to meet some of your future team members so you can get to know each other better. Hopefully you will meet some new colleagues that you will be looking forward to working together with.
As a last step in the process, we would like to talk with some of your referees before we give you a job offer.
If we still think we are a good match for each other, we would like to give you an employment offer. This involves signing a contract, and you will officially become part of the Dustin team.
Tips & Tricks
Keep your CV simple and easy to read. Be clear, put the most recent experiences first and use distinct headlines. Try to be as concise as possible. Your CV should preferably not be more than two pages. If you are using your LinkedIn profile, you should make sure that you have filled in your experiences and summarised your positions.
When you apply for a job at Dustin, we will never require you to write a personal letter. In fact, we have removed the option to even submit a personal letter. This not only makes applying easier and more efficient for you, but it also helps us to be more objective, inclusive and fair in the recruitment process. This way, we can hire the most qualified person for the job.
Even though we have removed the personal letter from our application process, we still want to know why you want to join Dustin! So we will briefly ask you to tell us why you are applying for the role. In your answer, we suggest to:
- Focus on work-related information and avoid private details.
- As a tech company, we love AI too, but please be yourself in these short answers and avoid asking ChatGPT for help.
- Help us understand why we should hire you - what will your experience and knowledge bring to this role?
Phone check-up
If you get contacted by a recruiter or the hiring manager after you have sent in your application, the first step could be a telephone interview. During this talk we ask questions to find out more about your experiences, who you are and what is important for you, so we make sure we are the right match for each other.
You can prepare by asking yourself what you value in your next job. Be ready to tell the interviewer why you want the position and present a short summary of you career. You should also consider what your salary expectation for the position would be.
Of course, it is okay to do the telephone check-up from wherever you are, but make sure to have a good connection.
Competency-based questions
In our recruitments we have a competency-based approach. This provides valuable insights into how someone is likely to behave in future situations. In this type of interview, we would look at a concrete situation from one of your previous jobs of your choice, and talk about how you handled a certain task, what action you took and which results came out of it.
Test your technology
Testing your technology is simple, but makes the biggest difference. Even if you have worked in Microsoft Teams before, check out your camera to make sure there is good lighting and check your microphone/headphones to make sure everything is set up correctly.
Host your interview in the right place
Your focus should be on getting to know the position and Dustin, and selling why you would be a fantastic addition for Dustin. You can’t do that if your mind is wandering, or a vacuum cleaner is buzzing in the background. Before the interview begins, let your family, partners or pets know that you don’t want to be disturbed. It is essential to create as much focus as possible when conducting an interview. Test out potential interview locations before you settle on the perfect one.
Treat it like a regular face-to-face interview
You may be doing the interview from your living room, but don’t let yourself get too comfortable. Wear what you would if the interview were in person. It is a simple, yet powerful mind trick to signal to your brain that it is time for work.
Remember to smile and make eye contact with the person you are talking to. Speak clearly and nod when the interviewer talks to show that you’re focused and listening.
